I miss him. He was without a doubt the best anchor ever to come to Philadelphia...or COME BACK..to Philadelphia, since he was born and raised here. I hope he ends up back on the air at a station here.

I missed Larry during the Phillies coverage. I know he's a Phillies fan because I used to see him at the games all of the time. That's why I watched him because he was a REAL Philadelphian that knows what it's like to be from here. I hope he gets back on the air soon.

Larry, I came to CBS3 once. i was nervous an you put me at ease. When others wee too busy for me, you walked me up and introduced me. You commanded their attention for me. You let me watch the newscast and made me feel special. I will always be on your side, be your fan and have your back. Get back on the air soon. Where you go...I will follow. Don't pay attention to the newspapers. They are just jealous. - James Stratton

Here is the way I understand the case against Mendte.

An inexperienced broadcaster and home wrecker from Miami is lucky enough to get a job co-anchoring with Mendte - she makes a play for him - Mendte kisses her a couple of times and then rejects her.

She gets mad and seduces the General Manager and uses this poor sap to try and get Larry Mendte fired.

Mendte fights back by looking at her email account. He find that this tramp is doing all kinds of crazy shit and tells the papers. good for him!

The she hits a cop and gets fired. Mendte is worried that she will still come after his family and checks on this wacko to make sure she doesn't.

She finds out from Angela Russel, a no-talent loser at Channel 3, that Mendte is looking t her email.

Lane doesn't suit or go to the station..she goes to the FBI.

The FBI should have thrown her out. There were no damages, no money taken...so why did they take it?

Because it was Larry Mendte and they would get a lot of publicity for taking him down. Pat Meehan could hold his ten thousandth news conference and launch his run for Governor.

Then Lane, her attorney and a marketing team started working the media into a frenzy. And the dimwits in the media went along with it.

In the end, we lose a good man who did a world of good for the community and cared about Philadelphia. Lane moved to LA and Russel moved to Seattle.

And the only person who had a pure motive (to protect his family) and who told the truth was Larry Mendte.

Everyone else involved should be ashamed...we should all be ashamed...we let a good man down.

Larry accepted his felony conviction with grace and dignity.
He told the truth and accepted full responsibility. Let's get him back on TV where he belongs!!!

Larry, what are you up to?

Enought time has passed - come on back on the air - we miss you.

YES!!!! Dawn and Larry should anchor together somewhere in Philly.

Anonymous said...

Just realized that Dawn was let go from Fox 29 news. After reading the other comments, that would be a great idea for Larry & Dawn to anchor together. I agree - I used to like Chris May who replaced Larry, however after seeing him in person anchoring on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ this summer, he seemed like a prudish, stuck up man. C'mon CBS 3...bring larry Back and let Dawn come along too! (No offense Susan Barnett...we do like you too!)

Saw you on WXMI in Grand Rapids today (8/12/10).

Good point regarding unhealthy monopoly by the two political parties.

But "nothing ever happens" as a result??

Take the health insurance reform bill. Before, insurance companies could and did do ANYTHING THEY WANTED: Drop people who get sick; exclude pre-existing conditions; jack up rates exhorbitantly if you use the coverage.

NOW THEY CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE! THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO INSURE PEOPLE!

The Republicans NEVER, NEVER, NEVER would have done it!

I do miss Larry Mendte on TV - more than I thought I would. What is he doing now? Any chance a TV station in Philly would hire him?

JACK said...

Okay Jokes over - bring back Larry Mendte. Tim Lake is a main anchor because Larry Mendte left NBC10. Chris May is a main anchor because Mendte left CBS3. They were both second choices. Let's bring back The Man!
